American and Canadian Synagogues Under Fire for Selling Stolen Palestinian Property Amid Controversy

Rabbi David Mivasair, representing Independent Jewish Voices, Canada, an anti-Zionist Jewish organization, is leading protests against the sale of Palestinian homes by a real estate company outside a Canadian synagogue. The sales, targeting Canadian Zionists, have sparked outrage within the Jewish and Canadian communities.

Mivasair plans to stage demonstrations outside the Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto Synagogue Centre on March 7th, condemning the unlawful sale of Palestinian properties. Similar concerns have arisen in New York, where a synagogue has faced backlash for participating in such transactions.

Closed-door meetings organized by real estate firms, including Keller Williams, have been held in synagogues across the US, drawing condemnation for their alleged facilitation of property sales in occupied territories. In Englewood, New Jersey, protesters, including Jewish demonstrators, gathered outside the Ahavath Torah Synagogue to denounce the sale of properties to American Zionists from illegal settlements.

Chanting slogans such as “Freedom for Palestine” and “End the Israeli occupation,” protesters expressed their opposition to what they consider land theft. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in New Jersey has also condemned the use of synagogues for such sales, calling it a violation of international law.

These sales events, organized by Keller Williams and Israeli settlers’ groups, are taking place confidentially across several cities, including New Jersey, New York, Toronto, and Montreal. Attendance is restricted to Jewish participants, raising further concerns about transparency and accountability. It’s important to mention that in Canada, it’s against the law to restrict real estate sales to a specific ethnic group or to discriminate based on race.

With approximately 700,000 Israeli settlers residing in illicit settlements across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, the international community continues to view all Jewish settlements in these regions as violations of international law.
